Hear from renowned digital currencies expert at PCMA Conference

Sean Worthington, the creator of the world's first Cloud-based currency, will headline the 7th Annual Private Capital Markets Association of Canada (PCMA) Conference on April 12 at the Arcadian Court in Toronto.

Worthington is the founder of CloudCoin, touted as the first currency that harnesses the Cloud technology. He is also the author of Beyond Bitcoin: The Future of Digital Currencies.

His new currency, which he says is unhackable, untraceable and can’t be lost, counterfeited or double-spent, boasts transaction speeds 1,000 times faster than Bitcoin and can, if desired, be conveniently stored where governments, thieves and hackers will never find it: in the CloudCoin owner’s mind.

“CloudCoin is the second technology to solve the physical integrity problem," Worthington said.

He added: "It has the luxury of looking at blockchain's mistakes, number one being scalability. The more people that use blockchain, the slower it gets and that's causing all this frustration and what are called hard forks and soft forks. They're having wars about what the algorithm should be. CloudCoin does not have that problem; it's scalable and very fast."

Worthington is a tenured faculty member in the Computer Science Department of Butte College in Northern California and an expert in computer information systems. Worthington has completed all PhD work in Computer Information Systems and is working on his dissertation on counterfeit detection systems.

At 14, he learnt to program the Atari 400 computer, one of the first computers available. At 16, he won an international scientific contest, which allowed him to go on a three-month scientific expedition to unvisited areas of the Australian Outback. And at 18, Worthington joined the US Air Force and became an FAA Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, licensed to fix extremely complicated jet engines.

Worthington is one of the featured speakers at the conference. PCMA chair Doug Bedard said it would be beneficial for the conference attendees to listen to Worthington's insights about the digital currency marketplace.

He said: “Clearly, digital currencies are here to stay, and we are pleased to present an innovator like Sean who is on the cutting edge in this space. It is an exciting opportunity for conference attendees to take advantage of his knowledge, experience and expertise.”

PCMA executive director Georgina Blanas noted how Worthington would be able to share his knowledge on how closely linked monetary systems and information systems are.

"Money is data and the job of data is to be accurate and to give us insight into how to conduct business. This type of information most certainly helps set the pace for the private capital markets," she said.
